Ring of Fire News

What's up with the biggest thing happening in mining in NW Ontario?

Stand By for Cliffs Announcing (Sudbury?) Smelter Location

This, according to tbnewswatch.com:

The ferrochrome processing facility wait may over for three Northern Ontario communities in the hunt for the plant.

Cliffs Natural Resources has called a news conference for Wednesday morning, at which time it’s anticipated they will name the location for the facility, expected to employ up to 500 people. The release states the U.S.-based company will provide an update on its lucrative Ring of Fire chromite project.

Last week company officials stated they would announce their decision in the coming days.

Sudbury, the base case the company used to determine the location, is the odds on favourite to win the bid over Greenstone and Thunder Bay.

Minister of Natural Resources Minister Michael Gravelle has called a news conference for Wednesday morning, simultaneously to one called by Minister of Northern Development and Mines Rick Bartolucci.
